Process 2015
Dijana Engelmann’s latest work, entitled Process, can be described as a conceptual autobiography in which the author, in the presence of the audience, presents herself in a state of undress and vulnerability. In this manner, she addresses the trauma of time, which, in a gradual but unavoidable manner, has the effect of breaking us all down. The artist employs the medium of photography to reveal his personal recollections. The images on paper, immersed in an aquarium with water, serve to illustrate the cyclical trajectory of life. The moment captured in the photography is decomposed in accordance with the unyielding laws of natural processes, resulting in the formation of calcium carbonate on the glass and sediment at the bottom of the aquarium.
